Model 902 Listening and Calibration System

The Model 902 Underwater Acoustic Listening and Calibration System is a portable instrument designed to provide the user with a convenient means to record and to make calibrated measurements of underwater sound sources. The Model 902 comes complete with a sensitive hydrophone with 15 meters of cable, headphones and an output jack to permit recording of the underwater sounds. The front panel meter and controls are marked in dB level ref. to 1 micropascal.

The Model 902 is equally suitable for field or laboratory use. The unit is battery powered by 6 "D" dry cells and is housed in a rugged aluminum carrying case. Space is provided for accessories such as a small tape recorder as well as the hydrophone, cable and headphones.

The Model 902 is an indispensable instrument to the researcher for performance checks, and in designing new acoustic transducers or systems. The marine biologist will find the Model 902 convenient to use in the field to monitor and record marine biological activity. The marine electronics service technician will find the Model 902 an invaluable tool in diagnosing problems with Echo-sounders, Transponders, or other acoustic instruments. The oceanographer and marine scientist will find a variety of uses from pinger location, to making recordings of experimental data received from ocean bottom-mounted equipment via an acoustic data link.
