Incident Prevention Through Awareness

In addition to manufacturing environmental sensors, InterOcean provides complete Integrated Marine Information Systems which help protect harbors and coastal marine environments by providing maritime authorities, vessels and the public with real-time monitoring and support information to aid in the prevention of marine disasters and provide immediate real-time response information. These systems consist of the most recent tools and information technologies, combining interactive electronic navigation charts (IMO ECDIS performance and IHO S57/S52 standards), environmental sensors, video surveillance cameras, optional radar input, and communications systems and data links with real-time access from any location using digital transmission and secure internet access. In addition, the Integrated Marine Information System provides a central database with on-line access to supervise and assist vessel traffic, aid navigation, protect the marine environment, and provide emergency response support for mariners. Information can be available to anyone with wireless data link or Internet Access.

The main function of the Integrated Marine Information System is to support Harbor Authorities and vessel pilots with oil spill, pollution response and casualty prevention by providing real-time information access for operational decision making through the use of the following integrated tools and technologies:

• Real-time hydrographic meteorological sensor inputs with wireless data transmission. (Additional sensors available.)
• Real-time digital camera coverage with user control via the Internet.
• Commercial vessel schedules and vessel information database.
• IMO/IHO compatible ECDIS navigational chart with interactive features and information overlays including hazardous high-risk areas, restricted areas and security zones, construction areas, environmentally sensitive areas, anchorages, and port services.
• Area response strategies, emergency contact information, oil spill and marine casualty reporting system, harbor safety plan, and operating rules and requirements.
• Portable notebook computer for pilots or emergency field use with on-line access to all of the above information in real-time via dedicated wireless radio link or via the Internet.
